Xiaomi Launched Mi4i and Mi Band in India for Rs.12,999 and Rs.999

The wait is over, finally the 'i' arrived and it's none other than Xiaomi Mi 4i, where 'i' stands for India but the device is not targeted for Indian market only, it will be available in other Xiaomi markets later this year. Mi 4i is a new mid-range smartphone with flagship like qualities and reasonably low price. The device was unveiled at Xiaomi's grand launch event which held today at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi, India. The special guests present at the event were Lei Jun (Co-founder, Chairmen and CEO of Xiaomi), Hugo Barra (Vice President Global, Xiaomi) and Bin Lin (Co-founder and President, Xiaomi). 


Xiaomi Mi 4i : First Impressions


Xiaomi Mi 4i sports a poly-carbonate unibody design and is available in five different colors, which are; Black, White, Blue, Yellow and Pink. The phone has a 5" Inch Display and overall it looks a lot like Apple iPhone 5C. The Dimensions of Mi 4i are 69.6 x 138.1 mm, It is 7.8mm thick (obviously thinner that Metal bodies Mi 4) and weighs 130 grams, thanks to plastic body, the phone is very light in hands even though it has a big display.

The Display is a 5" Inch Full-HD IPS Display from Sharp and JDI, It has 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and pixel density of ~441 ppi which is pretty nice. Mi 4i comes with a new technology called 'Sunlight Display' which is a hardware-level technology to adjusts the contrast of each pixel in real time, this makes the display less affected by the sun glare and improves the content clarity, so that you can view the display in sunlight without maxing out brightness. Since you are not maxing out brightness, you are also saving battery life. Mi 4i has a wide 178 degree viewing angle with IPS technology which gives you outstanding view from every angle. For protection, Mi 4i Display uses Corning OGS glass lamination which makes the display thin and prevents scratches.


The camera on Mi 4i is a 13 Megapixel Sony/Samsung camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5 element lens. It comes with Two-tonned flash which intelligently calculates the amount of white and yellow to mix and emit by assessing the color temperature of the environment. This makes the photos beautiful and natural. Other things in Mi 4i camera are Refocus, HDR, Manual mode etc. The Front camera is a 5 Megapixel shooter and has a large f/1.8 aperture, it comes with Beautify, which enhances your selfies. the camera supports Full-HD recording 1080p and can also shoot videos in Real time HDR. 


Mi 4i is a Dual-SIM (MicroSIM) packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 second generation Octa-Core 64-bit processor (Quad-core 1.7 GHz + Quad Core 1.1 GHz) with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. Mi 4i runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop topped with MIUI 6 and comes with lot of new features. Other features of Mi 4i are Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 4G Support etc. The Internal memory of Mi 4i is 16GB out of which 12 GB is usable, there is no MicroSD card support on Mi 4i. The battery of Mi 4i is a 3120 mAh Lithium Polymer battery.


The Xiaomi Mi 4i is priced at Rs.12,999 and will be available at Flipkart via flash sales starting on April 30, 2015 at 2 PM. The registrations for flash sales will start today at 8 PM till April 29, 2015 Mid-night.

After the launch of Mi 4i, Hugo Barra stated that 'B' is also coming to India which we later found out was Mi Band. For those who don't know what Mi Band is, it is the cheapest Fitness Tracker & Sleep Monitor available for Android. It sports a simple tracker fitted in a silicon strap and has a 30 day battery life. Mi Band helps monitoring your daily fitness levels, calories burned, steps  etc.
